Funsurf Center sits in Dervio on the eastern shore of Lake Como, about 30 km north of Lecco and easy to reach by train from Milan. Run by Upali Gunawardena since 1990, the VDWS school teaches windsurfing - beginner courses for adults and children through to technique sessions covering jibing, harness and beach starts. Hydrofoil, SUP and canoe rental are also available.
Conditions vary through the day: the lighter Tivano from the north in the morning suits beginners, while the Breva from the south builds in the early afternoon. North wind brings up proper waves at the spot. Official test centre for Duotone, Fanatic and Ezzy. Lessons in Italian and English.
