About this spot
The ÖY water sports base sits on the north beach (Am Nordbad, letzte Treppe) of the North Sea island of Borkum, the westernmost of the East Frisian Islands. The Wadden Sea spot is tide-driven: wide, shallow sand flats as the water comes in, plus waves on the open North Sea. Since 2022 the VDWS base has taught windsurfing, kitesurfing, wing surfing, wave riding and SUP. There is rental, test and used gear, kite storage and beach service, and you can earn your kite licence here. You can stay in individual lodgings or the surf dorm, a few minutes by bike from the beach.
