YAAS stands for Yacht Akademie Axel Schmidt and is one of the largest watersports centres on the Scharmützelsee in Bad Saarow. As one of Brandenburg's biggest lakes, it offers wide, calm stretches of flatwater where windsurfing is easy to pick up.
A VDWS watersports school, YAAS runs basic courses in surfing, dinghy and catamaran, plus boating licences, private lessons and holiday camps for kids. Founder and director Axel Schmidt is a sports-science graduate, a long-serving DSV coach and a VDWS instructor. Sites are based at the Seebad in Bad Saarow and the Precise Resort.
