Boracay – Bulabog Beach
Philippines · Kitesurf · Windsurf · Wingfoil
About this spot
Bulabog Beach on the east side of Boracay Island is the official watersports beach of the Philippines. During the northeast monsoon (Amihan) from roughly mid-November to April, the wind blows clean side-onshore into the lagoon, which is sheltered by an outer coral reef. Expect 15–25 knots almost every day, stronger at the core from December to March. The water is flat to choppy depending on tide – board-flat behind the reef at low water, ideal for blasting, freestyle and wingfoil.
When is the best time to visit Boracay? Clearly the Amihan season from November to April. In summer the southwest monsoon (Habagat) takes over, and the main spot shifts to the White Beach side. Suitable for all levels.
Location
Insider tips
In the Amihan season usually a 7–12 m kite, smaller from December to March. Low water behind the reef is flattest – but avoid roughly 1.5 hours either side of the lowest tide, when the reef is exposed.
⚠︎ Hazards
At spring low tide the coral reef partly dries – cut hazard, reef booties advisable. The lagoon gets tight and crowded in high season. Open sea beyond the reef.
