About this spot

Isla Margarita – El Yaque is a kitesurf and windsurf spot in Venezuela. El Yaque in the south of Isla Margarita is considered one of the best windsurf and kite destinations in the Caribbean, only a few minutes by taxi from Porlamar airport. The NE trade wind blows almost all year round: from February to June almost daily, November to January at 17–21 knots, February to May at 22–40 knots. The beach is divided into windsurf and kite zones; the official kite beach is about 2.5 km upwind, and kiters take a shuttle boat there. Lifeguards on the beach.

The spot works best with wind from E, NE (trade wind); the windiest period is Feb–Jul. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
