About this spot
Nouméa – Anse Vata (Pointe Magnin / Méridien) is a kitesurf and wingfoil spot in New Caledonia. The beach at the Méridien on Pointe Magnin is a well-known freestyle spot with flat water and was a stop on the kitesurf pro tour. Little room to set up; you need to be able to go upwind reliably, so it is not for beginners. Kite schools head out from here by boat at midday to the islets in the lagoon; the Aquarêve beach beyond the point is quieter.
The spot works best with wind from SE, S; the windiest period is Sep–Dec. The water is mostly flat. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.

Watch out for: Trade wind sometimes offshore – you drift out quickly. Many users (sailing schools, kite, wing and paddle clubs). Sharks – fatal attack at Anse Vata in February 2026.
