About this spot
The North Sea island of Rømø in the Danish Wadden Sea has, at the beach near Lakolk, one of the widest sandy beaches in Northern Europe – the sand is packed so firm you can drive on it. At low tide, kilometre-long, board-flat run-out areas and shallow pools appear; at high tide there is more water with chop and small waves. The west, southwest and northwest wind off the North Sea makes Rømø a legendary speed and freeride venue and host of the "Rømø Megaloop Challenge". You rig and launch on the wide, firm sand – riding happens out on the flat water.
When is the best time to visit Rømø? The main season is April to October, with the strongest wind in spring and autumn. More of a venue for advanced riders.
