Algarve Watersport is based in Lagos on Portugal's Algarve and has been teaching since 2006. Kiting takes place in the Ria de Alvor lagoon, a flat, standing-depth spot where beginners can take their first steps without battling waves. The school is VDWS- and IKO-certified, with small groups of no more than four to five students; you can take the VDWS licence along the way.
Beyond kitesurfing the operation covers surfing, windsurfing, wing foiling, wakeboarding and SUP – so on a no-wind day you can simply switch to another discipline. You stay at the Kitehouse in the centre of Lagos, around ten minutes' walk from the old town and five from the beach.
