Surfschule Cuxhaven is based in the Sahlenburg district on the North Sea and has taught for over 20 years. The mudflats off the beaches of Döse, Duhnen and Sahlenburg are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park and are tide-driven: shallow stand-up water as the tide comes in, wide sand flats otherwise. There are two spots, Kugelbake and Sahlenburg. As a VDWS base for wind and kitesurfing, the school offers taster, beginner, advanced and kids' courses, plus SUP and water sports assistant training. A five-day weekly course takes you from first steps to the licence.
