About this spot
Cairns – Yorkeys Knob is a kitesurf and wingfoil spot in Australia. The beach at Yorkeys Knob north of Cairns is a well-known area for kitesurfing, foiling and wingfoiling. The SE trade wind from April to November makes the place a meeting point for the kite and wingfoil scene. In summer (roughly November to May) stinger nets are set up at the main swimming beach; kiters use the area outside them.
The spot works best with wind from SE, E; the windiest period is Apr–Nov. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
