About this spot

Gravedona lies in the Alto Lario, the windy northern part of Lake Como, and is one of the classic centres of the local watersports scene. The lake delivers two thermal daily winds: the Tivano from the north in the morning, which sets up clean offshore conditions for early risers, and the Breva from the south, which fills in on sunny spring and summer days from the late morning or early afternoon and forms the main window for windsurf, kite and wing.

The water is fresh and tide-free, the wind moderate and thermally reliable – ideal for learning and progression. Which wind blows when? Tivano early in the morning, Breva in the afternoon. Anyone after more power and open space will find further top venues in the immediate vicinity around Domaso, Gera Lario and Colico in the Alto Lario.

Location

Insider tips

Tivano (north) in the morning for calm, offshore sessions; Breva (south) from late morning into the afternoon as the main wind. Fresh water, no tide – gear dries salt-free.

⚠︎ Hazards

The morning Tivano is offshore – don't head out too far before the Breva fills in. The thermal can drop abruptly; keep an eye on the forecast and the time of day.
