Dubai – Kite Beach

About this spot
Kite Beach is the official kite section on Jumeirah Beach in Dubai, with a view of the Burj Al Arab and full facilities – the city's main hub. The north-westerly Shamal, a wind blowing mostly in the winter half of the year from November to March out of the Iraq/Iran direction, delivers clean side-onshore conditions over a gently shelving sandy bottom, averaging 15–25 knots. Many days stay light at 8–14 knots, but especially in January and February there are occasional days above 20–25 knots.
When is the best time to visit Dubai? December to March, when the Shamal is most reliable and the beach fills with riders of all levels. The choppy, shallow water suits beginners and intermediates above all.

Insider tips
Because many days are light (8–14 kn), big kites and a floaty/light-wind board help. Keep smaller kites ready for the stronger Shamal days in January/February. Get to the beach early before it fills up.
⚠︎ Hazards
A popular city beach – it can get crowded on good days, so watch for swimmers and other riders. In light wind there is a risk of drifting; make sure there is enough wind before heading out.
