About this spot

Grand Haven – City Beach is a kitesurf spot in the United States. Grand Haven is a kiting hub on Lake Michigan and works in all wind directions except E. Empty in spring and autumn, crowded in summer – when the beach is full, always launch downwind. In strong N wind the downwinder from Grand Haven City Beach to Buchanan Beach is popular. Holland State Park and Grand Haven State Park are considered too crowded for launching in summer.

The spot works best with wind from N, NW, W, SW, S; the windiest period is Apr–Nov. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.
