Mallorca – Sa Ràpita

Mallorca – Sa Ràpita

Spain · Kitesurf · Windsurf · Wingfoil · SUP

About this spot

A very white sandy beach over a kilometre long on Mallorca's south coast, with a shallow entry. Sa Ràpita faces south and southwest, so it works when the wind does not suit other parts of the island. The summer engine is the Embat – a thermal sea breeze that sets in almost daily along Mallorca's coast from April to October and is strongest in the afternoon. The water is flat to lightly choppy; stronger onshore wind builds small waves.

When is the best time? The most reliable season runs May to October, with warm water around 28°C. Winter is calmer, but low-pressure systems can deliver good wave days. The spot suits beginners and improvers on kite, windsurf, wing and SUP. Open water stretches towards the Cabrera archipelago. The village of Sa Ràpita sits right behind, busy with tourists in summer.

Insider tips

The Embat breeze builds through the day – the afternoon is the most reliable session. Keep Sa Ràpita as a backup when the north coast is flat.

⚠︎ Hazards

In stronger onshore wind the water gets choppy, though the entry stays shallow and forgiving. Outside the season food and toilet facilities may be unavailable.
