About this spot
Muizenberg is a kitesurf and surf spot in South Africa. Long sandy beach on False Bay, about 22 km from Cape Town; you set up on the beach at the main car park near the Lifesaving Club. Best with SE, which blows onshore here. Without shelter from the Cape Peninsula, the swell runs straight onto the beach – bigger but less consistent waves; the water is warmer than on the Atlantic side. For wave riding, freeride and freestyle, from beginners to advanced riders.
The spot works best with wind from SE, S; the windiest period is Oct–Apr. Depending on the swell there are waves. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
