About this spot
San Mateo – 3rd Avenue is a kitesurf and windsurf spot in the United States. Kite spot on the shore of San Francisco Bay at the end of 3rd Avenue in San Mateo; a kite school also operates here. The beach access is small; kiters can use the windsurfers' rigging area at the end of the car park. In season there is usually strong wind in the afternoon; the wind between the San Mateo Bridge and the shore is considered hard to predict. Local kiters and instructors have published their own spot rules.
