About this spot

Ulcinj – Velika Plaža (Štoj) is a kitesurf and wingfoil spot in Montenegro. Velika Plaža, about 12–14 km long, south-east of Ulcinj is considered the most important kite spot on the Adriatic coast. In summer a strong, cross-onshore thermal wind blows in the afternoons; the water is shallow and warm, and the tide hardly matters. Several kite schools operate along the beach; the season is roughly May to October.

The spot works best with wind from SW, W (thermal); the windiest period is May–Sep. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
