Esposende – Rio Cávado (Ofir) is a kitesurf spot in Portugal. Kiting mainly takes place on the Rio Cávado at the mouth near Esposende. You set up and launch on the opposite bank in a small nature reserve – reached by boat transfer or after a short drive and a walk of about 20 minutes. On the river there is a flat-water lagoon, with waves towards the sea. Sea breeze in the afternoon until sunset; May is considered the start of the season.
The spot works best with wind from N, NW (Nortada); the windiest period is May–Sep. Depending on the wind you get flat water, chop or waves. It suits beginners and intermediates.
