About this spot
Viana do Castelo – Praia do Cabedelo is a kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf spot in Portugal. Cabedelo beach south of the mouth of the Lima opposite Viana do Castelo. According to its own information, Vianalocals here is the first kite school in the north of Portugal. The Kite Voodoo school at Praia Luzia Mar offers lessons as well as rental of kite, foil and wing equipment and lockers. Season roughly March to October, water temperature 14–20 °C. Thanks to its wind exposure, the beach is considered one of the best-known windsurf and kitesurf spots in Portugal.
The spot works best with wind from N, NW, W (Nortada); the windiest period is Mar–Oct. Depending on the wind you get flat water, chop or waves. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
