About this spot
Hohen Wieschendorf lies at the southern entrance to Wismar Bay, near Klütz on the Mecklenburg coast: fine sandy beach, broad dunes, little traffic. It is one of the few east-wind spots of Wismar Bay and offers a shallow-water zone that makes it friendly for wing and kite beginners too. The sheltered position – the very flat Wohlenberger Wiek lies just around the corner – gives smooth to choppy water without any big wave.
Which wind works at Hohen Wieschendorf? The rideable range runs from northwest through north to northeast; sideonshore components meet the water well for kiters. Rig and launch on the beach; the riding is out on the water. The main season is the windy half-year, with relaxed sessions in summer away from the Poel bustle. If you want flat, calm water and space, this is your spot – and on light days you can switch to the even flatter Wohlenberger Wiek next door.
