About this spot
La Saline-les-Bains is a kitesurf spot in Réunion. The island's most visited kite spot, on the west coast with a large lagoon; the Saline Kite Club is based here. Only for experienced kiters: the lagoon is shallow and the launch and landing zones are narrow. If the trade wind turns slightly to the S, the west coast benefits from a venturi effect.
The spot works best with wind from S, SW; the windiest period is May–Nov. The water is mostly flat. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.

Watch out for: Sharks present in some zones – follow local rules. Parts of the spot lie in the marine protected area (Parc Marin) and are closed. Sea urchins and coral, very shallow lagoon. Narrow launch and landing zones.
