About this spot
Mwazaro Beach (Funzi) is a kitesurf spot in Kenya. Calm flat-water area of about 15 km² behind Funzi Island, around 77 km south of Mombasa. From December to March the Kaskazi blows steadily from N/NE, onshore here. Beach about 500 m wide at a lodge with no other hotels nearby – plenty of space for learning. Water around 25 °C, no wetsuit needed; mangroves and sandbanks in the surrounding area.
The spot works best with wind from N; the windiest period is Dec–Mar. The water is mostly flat. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
