About this spot
Pranburi (Pak Nam Pran) sits about 20 to 30 minutes' drive south of Hua Hin on the Gulf of Thailand – a roughly 7 km long, open sandy beach and the quieter, more beginner-friendly alternative to busy Hua Hin.
Wind comes on the northeast monsoon from November to April; the NE runs especially November to January in the mornings, while from February to April a southerly thermal fills in during the afternoon. Expect mostly 10 to 20 knots. Why is Pranburi good for learning? The open, obstacle-free beach delivers clean wind, and near the river mouth flat, sheltered zones form at mid to low tide. Plenty of space, calm water and steady days make Pranburi ideal for kite and wing beginners; long downwinders are a draw too.
Location
Insider tips
For the flattest conditions, time sessions at the river mouth around mid to low tide. From February, count on the southerly thermal in the afternoon.
⚠︎ Hazards
A relaxed venue overall. Watch for current at the river mouth and avoid offshore phases on pure NE wind.
