Rhodes – Prasonisi
Greece · Kitesurf · Windsurf · Wingfoil
About this spot
The southern tip of Rhodes, where a narrow sandbank connects the small island of Prasonisi to the mainland – one of the most versatile spots in the Mediterranean. That very pinch point accelerates the Meltemi, the classic Greek northerly, through a jet effect, so it often blows harder here than in northern Rhodes. The west side offers waist-deep flat water in the lagoon, ideal for beginners, freestyle and wingfoil; the east side delivers onshore waves up to just under a metre for bump-and-jump and wave riding.
When is the Meltemi most reliable? June to September, averaging 5–6 Beaufort with only a few windless days per month; peaks of 15–30 knots are normal. Suits all levels.

Insider tips
West side (lagoon) for beginners and flat-water freestyle, east side for waves and advanced riders. Rig small in a strong Meltemi (25+ knots). Early summer (June) brings wind with still-manageable crowds.
⚠︎ Hazards
The sandbank can be washed over with high water and swell; current at the tip between the two sides. Crowded in high summer – watch for other riders and schools.
