About this spot
Saint-Martin – Orient Bay is a kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf spot in Saint Martin. On Orient Bay on the French side of Saint-Martin, an IKO kite school has operated since 1998, having grown out of a windsurf centre founded in 1992. The base is in the upwind part of the beach, where the wind is most consistent. For the first hours there is a shallow lagoon, and for deep water a sheltered bay; lessons with radio helmets and a motorboat.
The spot works best with wind from E, NE, SE (trade wind); the windiest period is Dec–Jul. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
