About this spot
Strand – Main Beach is a kitesurf and surf spot in South Africa. Most kiters set up on Main Beach in front of the clubhouse next to the Strand Lifesaving Club; parking on Beach Road. S is the best direction; the spot is an alternative when the SE veers more to S. The wind rarely gets very strong here – kites of 8 to 12 m² are common. Good wave and freeride spot.
The spot works best with wind from S, SE, SW; the windiest period is Oct–Apr. Depending on the wind you get flat water, chop or waves. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
