Valle del Cauca – Lago Calima is a kitesurf and windsurf spot in Colombia. The Calima reservoir near Darién in Valle del Cauca is considered an ideal area for windsurfing and kitesurfing thanks to the winds that funnel in here. In the afternoon a dense fog with strong wind often rolls in, known as “El Brujo”. The water is warm all year round, a wetsuit is usually not needed; operators offer lessons.
The spot works best with wind from W, NW; the windiest period is Jul–Sep, Dec–Feb. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.
