The Berliner Kiteschule is based in the Vaschvitz nature park near Trent in the northwest of Rügen, about 150 metres from the water. You kite on the Rassower Strom, a shallow Bodden lagoon with a standing area - the kind of setup that makes learning straightforward: no tides, no waves, firm sand underfoot.
Courses run to VDWS standards from early May to the end of September, with a maximum of two students per instructor. Everything from a taster session for complete beginners to advanced coaching is on offer, and kites, board, harness, helmet, impact vest and wetsuit are included in the price. Kite landboarding is taught here too.
