About this spot
Achensee – Seespitz Kite Zone (Maurach) is a kitesurf, wingfoil and windsurf spot in Austria. At Achensee a weak S wind (1–2 Bft) blows in the morning and a strong N wind (3–5 Bft) in the afternoon. Kiting, windsurfing and wingfoiling require a weekly, monthly or seasonal licence (season April to November); the badge is worn visibly on the harness. In the Seespitz kite zone at the southern end the water is less than 1 m deep; kites may only be laid down in the designated zone. easyKite offers lessons and rental in Maurach.
The spot works best with wind from N (Thermik nachmittags); the windiest period is May–Sep. The water is mostly flat. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
