Boa Vista – Ponta Antonia
Cape Verde · Kitesurf · Wingfoil
About this spot
Ponta Antónia is a secluded bay in the north of Boa Vista, about 40 minutes by 4x4 from Sal Rei and a few minutes from Quinta da Espinguera. A wide sandy bay offers a large flat-water area between the waves, while fast, powerful waves run over the rocky reef edge – the quieter kite and wingfoil venue of Cape Verde, away from the crowds of Sal.
The wind is the northeast trade, blowing roughly 75 percent of the time from October to May and standing side-onshore into the bay. When is the best time for Boa Vista? From November to May you get flat water and waves at once, with January to May the most reliable phase. The flat-water section suits freestyle and improvers, while the wave over the reef is better left to experienced riders.

Insider tips
The spot is remote, so plan a 4x4 drive from Sal Rei and bring all your gear. Use the flat-water zone between the waves for freestyle and leave the reef wave to experienced riders.
⚠︎ Hazards
The waves break over a rocky bottom and can be fast and powerful – not a beginner zone in the wave area. Remote location without dense infrastructure, so be prepared to be self-sufficient.
