About this spot

Büsum's man-made Familienlagune Perlebucht consists of two tide-independent basins with around 100,000 m² of water combined – always holding water, whatever the tide is doing. That makes it one of the most reliable learning areas on the North Sea: sheltered, shallow stand-up water that stays mirror-smooth even in strong wind. The spot works with all westerly directions plus south and north. Windsurfing is possible from light wind, and instructors and schools are right on site.

When is the best time to visit Büsum? Spring through autumn, since the basin always holds water regardless of weather – you just need the wind. Note: kiting in the Perlebucht is only permitted from VDWS Level 5 for safety reasons.
