About this spot

At Fehmarn's eastern tip, by the Staberhuk lighthouse, the island's finest wave rolls in during E and NE conditions – cleanly breaking, because open Baltic stretches to the horizon here. The spot is wild and lonely: barely any infrastructure, and often you have the wave to yourself. That is the appeal, but also the demand – without solid wind and experience the trip out to the headland is not worth it.

Who is Staberhuk for? For advanced kiters and windsurfers who can handle waves, current and a stony entry. Rig and launch on the beach or at the tip; the riding is on the wave. The wave season falls in the windy half-year from autumn to spring; then with a wetsuit, as the Baltic water is cold. If you seek Fehmarn's quiet wave days and want to earn them, this is the place.
