About this spot
Neretva River Mouth (Ušće Neretve) is a kitesurf and wingfoil spot in Croatia. The mouth of the Neretva about 10 km from Ploče is considered one of the best-known kite spots on the Croatian coast. The thermal Maestral usually sets in around midday and lasts until the evening; two offshore islands strengthen it through a venturi effect. There are two kite centres on the large, flat beach: in the inner part of the bay slightly less wind and shallower water for beginners, further out (Komin) stronger and steadier. The centres offer multi-day courses, rescue boats, storage and showers.
The spot works best with wind from NW, W (Maestral); the windiest period is Apr–Sep. The water is mostly flat. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
