About this spot
Pellworm sits in the middle of the North Frisian Wadden Sea off Husum and has an almost Hallig character: low, wide, reachable only by ferry. On the falling and rising tide huge shallow-water flats open up around the island – one of the most unusual kite and wingfoil spots in Europe. When does it work best? The window runs roughly three hours either side of high water; with light wind the flat then turns mirror-smooth, ideal for tricks, jumps and long wingfoil downwinders.
Wind from west, southwest and northwest brings the best conditions, main season April to October. Hundreds of metres from shore you can still stand – watersport with plenty of space and no crowds, but only with local knowledge.

Insider tips
Wadden experience is essential: know the tidal channels and read the tide tables. The best window is around high water; in light wind the flat turns mirror-smooth.
⚠︎ Hazards
Only ride the tidal flats with local knowledge – risk of death on a rising tide and in the tidal channels. Do not go out without tide knowledge.
