About this spot

Rhodes – Ixia is a kitesurf and windsurf spot in Greece. Ixia is the northernmost windsurf spot on the west coast of Rhodes: a gravel beach 20–30 m wide with several centres. The Meltemi comes from the W side-onshore from the left, somewhat weaker than in Trianda or Theologos and sometimes later. In stronger wind there is a small shorebreak at the launch, with swell up to about 2 m further out; in spring and autumn the Tramontana from the N brings surf.

The spot works best with wind from W, NW, N (Tramontana); the windiest period is May–Oct. Expect choppy water most of the time. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.
