About this spot

The Cospudener See in Leipzig's New Lakeland lies near Markkleeberg, about 10 km from Leipzig city centre, some 3.5 km long and 1.5 km wide. The flat mining landscape and the freshly formed, sparsely wooded shore give the wind almost no obstacles: it unfolds freely from southwest to northwest across the surface and runs in steadily at the spot. Which wind is best on the Cospudener See? West to southwest conditions are the reliable ones. The shallow, city-close area is beginner-friendly and the region's hotspot with the most surfers. From April to October the Surfcenter Leipzig runs courses for windsurf, wing, wing foiling, SUP and catamaran with VDWS basic licence, plus rental, surf shop, food and infrastructure right at the harbour. Good for beginners, freeriders, wingfoilers and the SUP boom.
