About this spot
Damp is a holiday resort with a wide sandy beach at the northern edge of Eckernförde Bay. The Baltic here is tide-free – no tidal window, and large shallow areas with gentle waves make the spot beginner-friendly. It surfs best near the two moles that form the harbour entrance for the excursion boats: on the right-hand side you get out onto the Baltic cleanly in north to east-northeast wind.
In northerly or easterly conditions the wind comes sideshore. In southwest, fast kiting is on the cards because waves up to around 1 metre then build. A popular spot with solid rental and school infrastructure; when the wind veers too far south, Damp is a good alternative to the spots on the bay south shore. Best season April to October, from beginner to advanced.
