About this spot
Schönhagen on the Baltic is a classic family area: sandy beach, dunes, plenty of space. The Baltic here is tide-free, so no tidal window, flat to gentle waves. Wind from east, northeast and north brings the best conditions; about 2 km north lies Weidefeld beach, considered one of the best kite areas on the Baltic especially in easterly wind, with a large nearshore shallow.
A little inland on the Schlei lies Brodersby with a large standing area – thoroughly beginner-friendly; in north or south the wind comes sideshore across the Große Breite. Sanitary facilities with warm showers and changing rooms right at the beach. A safe area for kite newcomers with a school on site; best season April to October.
