About this spot

Dugi Otok – Sakarun is a windsurf and surf spot in Croatia. In the winter half of the year, the sandy bay of Sakarun in the north-west of Dugi Otok gets onshore surf with Jugo from the SE; good for jumping, also for surf beginners. The bottom is shallow and sandy and the waves break far out; in strong wind there is a small shorebreak. Access by ferry from Zadar to Brbinj, then along a gravel track to the car park; there are no schools or shops on the island.

The spot works best with wind from SE (Jugo); the windiest period is Oct–Apr. Depending on the swell there are waves. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.
