About this spot
Figueira da Foz – Praia do Cabedelo is a kitesurf and surf spot in Portugal. Sandy beach south of the Mondego estuary, known for a powerful right-hand wave over a sandy bottom. On the windiest days the beach becomes a kite spot; several schools on site. Venue of the first surfing world championship in Portugal in the 1990s.
The spot works best with wind from N, NW, W; the windiest period is Apr–Sep. Depending on the swell there are waves. It suits intermediates and advanced riders.
