About this spot
Hamata – Kite Village is a kitesurf and wingfoil spot in Egypt. Kite station right on the beach at Hamata, about 7 km north of the Wadi Lahmy Azur Resort in southern Egypt. Lagoon next to mangroves with a very shallow standing-depth area of about 1 × 2 km on sand. Wind side- to side-onshore from the left; the slightly crescent-shaped bay makes landing easier. In winter often 18–24 kn, in July/August mostly thermal wind around 16–18 kn. One channel stays hip-deep even at spring low tide.
The spot works best with wind from N, NW; the windiest period is Nov–Jun. The water is mostly flat. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
