About this spot
Markgrafenheide lies east of Warnemünde right on the Rostock Heath – a home spot for Rostock riders, around 30 minutes by car from the centre. Long sandy beach, pine forest behind, hardly any buildings: a nature-oriented Baltic spot. The water ranges from chop to a small wave depending on wind. When southwest wind pushes everything onshore at the Warnemünde town beach, Markgrafenheide to the northeast is the good alternative.
Which wind works at Markgrafenheide? It runs well in N, NNE, NE, plus WSW, W, WNW, NW and NNW – a broad window. Rig and launch on the beach; the riding is out on the water. Important: groynes stand at close intervals along the whole beach and reach 10–15 m into the water. That makes the spot demanding – recommended for advanced, confident riders rather than beginners. Parking is central and paid; the kite beach at the northern end is a fair walk from there.

Insider tips
Kite beach at the northern end, a fair walk from the central car park. A good alternative when Warnemünde is too onshore in SW. Account for the groynes and pick a clean launch spot.
⚠︎ Hazards
Groynes along the whole beach, 10–15 m into the water, at close intervals – keep your height and do not drift offshore. Better for advanced riders, not for beginners.
