About this spot

On the edge of the Sauerland, the Möhnesee is a reservoir that dams the river Möhne and a long-standing NRW windsurf stronghold. West and southwest winds come through very steadily, and spring and autumn storms deliver the strongest days. The lake is split into several basins: in west wind the first basin at Delecke works ideally, as does the second basin west of the footbridge; the Linkturm spot is the only one that works well in south wind.

How much wind does the Möhnesee get? In summer there are roughly one to two usable days a week with 13+ knots, and considerably more in spring, autumn and winter. You rig on the shore and ride on flat to choppy freshwater. The school and rental are on the southern shore near Delecke. A perfect day spot for the Ruhr area, suited to beginners and ambitious freeriders alike.
