About this spot
Naxos – Agios Georgios (Lagoon) is a kitesurf and windsurf spot in Greece. Agios Georgios Bay lies directly south of Naxos Town; here Flisvos has run the island's first water sports centre since 1974, and there is also a second surf club with lessons and rental. The Meltemi comes side-onshore from the right; out at the reef, ramps of up to about 2 m form, while the standing-depth lagoon is suitable for practising. Kitesurfing is largely banned in the bay because of the nearby airport; the small lagoon is used for kite lessons.
The spot works best with wind from N, NW (Meltemi); the windiest period is Jun–Sep. Depending on the wind you get flat water, chop or waves. It suits beginners and intermediates.
