About this spot
Patras – Drepano is a kitesurf and windsurf spot in Greece. Drepano lies around 16 km east of Patras near the Rio–Antirrio Bridge. A gravel bank about 500 m long forms a spit with a flat lee side; in W wind the wind comes side-shore from the left, in E wind correspondingly on the other side. The spot works when the Meltemi fails to show: then W and E winds are strengthened thermally, usually 15–20 kn in the afternoon. Free parking under olive trees; a kite centre offers lessons and rental.
The spot works best with wind from W, E (thermal); the windiest period is Jun–Oct. Depending on the wind you get flat water, chop or waves. It suits beginners, intermediates and advanced riders.
