About this spot
Göhren sits at the southern tip of the Mönchgut peninsula in the south-east of Rügen, flanked by shallow Bodden and open Baltic. The bay of the seaside resort is a small insider tip: quieter than neighbouring Thiessow, yet on certain days with similarly good conditions for Baltic waves. Clean wind comes mainly in east and north-east.
This is tide-free Baltic: in E and NE the wind blows cleanly onto the bay, with flat chop to wave depending on strength. Who is Göhren right for? More for advanced riders looking for a low-key spot without the bustle of the big resorts – if you want a flat standing area, head to the nearby Mönchgut spots like Lobbe or Thiessow, where you stand far out. In Göhren everything is compact and within walking distance. Best season is May to September.
