About this spot

On the Mönchgut peninsula in the southeast of Rügen, the spot lies between Thiessow and Klein Zicker on the Greifswalder Bodden – two sides in one venue. The open Baltic with chop and swell on the outside, the shallow Bodden as a sheltered standing area on the inside. A roughly 50-metre-wide flat-water strip runs parallel to the shore and helps you gain confidence fast; in southwest, outside waves can reach around two metres. Best directions are W to SW plus NW and N.

Mönchgut is one of the wind-reliable corners of Rügen with fine sand and lovely scenery. When is the best time to visit? May to September brings warm water and dependable wind. Suits everyone from beginners on the inside to wave and freestyle riders outside.
