About this spot

Zempin sits at the narrowest point of Usedom between Koserow and Zinnowitz – only one to two kilometres separate the Baltic from the Achterwasser here. The Baltic side has white sand, good water quality and reliable coastal wind; in strong wind waves can reach around two metres. On the outer coast onshore directions from N, NW and W work best, while the neighbouring Achterwasser offers shallow standing water for west wind and beginners.

Zempin is the quieter part of this stretch of the island, good for combining beach and kiting. When is the best time to visit? April to October, with warm water in high summer. Wide rigging areas at the main beach, schools in Zinnowitz.
