About this spot

Zingst sits on the Darß peninsula, embedded in the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft national park. The fine-sand sports beach at beach access 6 is lined with closely spaced groynes reaching roughly 25 m into the Baltic. The spot works best in west to northwest wind, which arrives sideshore to side-onshore over the beach, but also runs with north and east. The water is tide-free and ranges from shallow near the beach to short chop when the wind picks up – good for beginners and solid intermediates.

When is the best time to visit Zingst? Spring and autumn, when the westerly systems roll through; summer is busier but steadier with thermals. If you want open space and nature over a crowded scene, this is your spot.

Insider tips

National park – respect the kite zones and travel outside the bird-breeding season. Paid parking with shower and WC at the surf school on the sports beach (access 6). Mind the closely spaced groynes when launching and landing.

⚠︎ Hazards

Groyne fields along the beach – keep clear when launching and landing. National-park kite zones are mandatory; offshore east wind pushes you out to open sea.
