About this spot
Carolinensiel sits right next to Harlesiel and shares the classic North Sea Wadden Sea with it: a wide horizon, lots of sand and steady wind in westerly and northwesterly conditions. The actual water access is at Harlesiel harbour; you rig and launch on the beach and ride out on the flooded Wadden flats inside the Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park.
As everywhere in the Watt, the spot is tide-dependent: the best window is roughly three hours before to three hours after high water. On the rising or falling tide the area often stands mirror-smooth, while the chop builds towards high water. Who is Carolinensiel for? Mostly families and beginners who value plenty of holiday accommodation and calm conditions. Season April to October, main wind W, NW and SW.

Insider tips
Water access via the neighbouring Harlesiel harbour. Best tidal window roughly three hours around high water – the flats are smoothest on the falling tide.
⚠︎ Hazards
Tide-dependent: the flats dry out at low water and tidal channels carry current. Watch the tide table.
